Situated on a hill overlooking Doolin Point, Doonagore Castle sits on the site of an even earlier ring fort. As you travel northwards you move into the Burren proper, and the landscape takes on a decidedly moonlike appearance. Just around the corner from Doonagore is the village of Doolin, a favourite spot for visitors to the area and an embarking point for ferries to the Aran islands.
