Located in the Gaeltacht region of County Donegal, Sliabh Liag ( meaning “Grey Mountain” ) are the highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe, where the cliff face of Bunglas rises over 600m above the ocean below. Although less famous than the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, Slieve League’s cliffs reach almost three times higher.
The cliffs are truly breathtaking. Venturing beyond the viewing point onto One Man’s Pass which loops around the Pilgrim’s Path is recommended for experienced walkers only. Alternatively, you can book a boat trip from nearby Teelin Harbour near the base of the sea cliffs, where you’ll be regaled with local legends and colourful stories from the skipper. A swim with the local pod of dolphins is a real treat and if you arrive in May or June, watch out for basking sharks.
