One of the most spectacular but intimate routes through the Connemara countryside is the Sky Road just outside Clifden. Best experienced by bike, the road winds up and down between drystone walls through a landscape that seems barely changed in fifty years. On a warm Summer’s day, there’s nowhere to beat it. At the road’s end, take the turn for Claddaghduff and Omey island… and don’t forget to bring your swimming togs.
